About Northwest Territories Driver’s Licence

Northwest Territories’ minimum age limit to start as a learner driver is 15 years. You can start with a motorcycle or learn to drive medium-sized motor vehicles and more. Until a driver turns 18 years old, he/she must not drive alone and must have an experienced class 5 driver (with 24 years of experience) with them.

The procedure to get an NWT driver’s licence is long and takes up to 2 years. After passing the knowledge test, you must wait for 12 months and take a road test to get a probationary licence. After 12 months, the final road test follows to get a full licence successfully.
